On 09.04.2024 our Team met at the headquarters of the General Directorate of State Forests in Warsaw. The meeting was initiated by Mr Bogdan Jaroszewicz – Deputy Director General for Nature Conservation. The LIFE+ Podkowiec Towers project is currently the responsibility of the Department of Nature Conservation, headed by Ms Jolanta Błasiak, while detailed matters are managed by the LIFE Project Team, under the watchful eye of Ms Agata Lichocka.
During the meeting, Programme Coordinator Rafał Szkudlarek (PTPP ‘pro Natura’) presented the history and assumptions of the project, the tasks that have already been completed and what is still to come. Together, we updated the schedule of activities, especially the points concerning the construction of bat towers. The tender for the construction of the first two such structures will be launched in May at the latest! We can’t wait – because this is the flagship, and at the same time the biggest and most demanding construction task of the whole project. We are curious to see how the cooperation with the contractors will work out. The design of the towers is demanding and has a lot of detail, so both parties will have to work with full commitment and understanding. These first two ‘test’ towers will become the model for the construction of subsequent towers.
We would like to thank the forestry team of the LIFE+ Podkowiec Towers project for the invitation, for the good atmosphere of the meeting, for the conclusions reached and together let’s keep our fingers crossed for the success of the work on the construction of the first bat towers in Poland!
