A good tradition of the LIFE financial mechanism is to provide support for the beneficiaries by assigning independent experts, called Project Monitors for the whole project duration. The Monitors know “their” projects very well. They watch the project implementation and help to solve any questions from the beneficiaries, in particular to understand procedures or best verbalise the information for the EC agencies.

June 2nd and 3rd, 2022, the LIFE+ Podkowiec Towers project has been visited by its Monitor, Ms Marta Kaczyńska. The programme of this first of the yearly visits included the in-door talks and field visits. The meeting had a hybrid character, foreign partners participated on-line. It was still possible to discuss all types of technical and organisational questions at the beginning of the project.

During the field visit the Monitor get acquainted with some project actions in Poland, such as field research helping to analyse the spatial habitat use by bats and optimise the location for the future artificial bat shelters. She visited also a summer shelter of the lesser horseshoe bats, where some improvements safeguard the bats from predation and bad weather.
