On 14 and 15 October 2022, after a 4-year break caused by the coronavirus pandemic, a traditional Chiropterological Seminar was held in Krásnohorská Dlha Lúka. The event was very popular among SON members and supporters. More than 30 participants from all over Slovakia took part – from Bratislava to Priekop in the east and one participant from the Czech Republic. During the Seminar, 11 professional presentations in the field of research, protection and environmental education of bats were presented, followed by a discussion and exchange of experiences.

An interesting point of the program was a visit to the Krásnohorská cave, more demanding than most of the caves open to visitors. Within 2 hours, the participants could exercise all their muscles – they tried a rope passage over the cave river and on long ladders. The effort was rewarded at the end of the route – they could admire one of the tallest stalagmites in the world. The meeting was also very valuable in terms of relationships, mutual inspiration and future cooperation.

The Chiropterological Seminar 2022 was co-financed from the LIFE+ HORSESHOE TOWERS project – LIFE20 NAT/PL/001427.
