At the end of June, we started counting bats in their breeding roosts in southern Poland. Bat roosts of species included in the LIFE+ Horseshoe Bat Towers project are checked. Observations of all bat species in these facilities are recorded.
The colonies inspected so far at sites located in the Podkarpackie, Dolnośląskie and Opolskie provinces have secured good conditions and do not require intervention. It is too early to assess the population trends, such conclusions will be possible after the results from all controlled sites are compiled.
It is not always easy to find bats scattered around a large attic.
The photo will help to count the bat cluster without unnecessary disturbing them.
