Our forest bat huts are only just being built, but they have already found their first tenants! Less than two months after the installation of roofs and facades on the huts in the Zdroje and Bardo Forest Districts, we found signs of Lesser Horseshoe Bat visits in six of them. The amount of guano on the attics confirms that these are regular visits, in three of them we even encountered horseshoes staying there during the day. But that’s not all – the crevices under the huts’ façade have begun to be used by bat species for which this type of shelter has been specially prepared. So far, we have seen a Brandt’s, whiskered, parti-coloured and barbastelle bats!
